Death Magnetic

I gotta say I am not too keen on this cover for Metallica's new CD.

The tracklisting for Death Magnetic is:

1. That Was Just Your Life
2. The End Of The Line
3. Broken, Beat & Scarred
4. The Day That Never Comes
5. All Nightmare Long
6. Cyanide
7. The Unforgiven III
8. The Judas Kiss
9. Suicide & Redemption
10. My Apocalypse

The first single will be 'The Day That Never Comes'.

Do we need another part to The Unforgiven song?

Thats exactly what i was thinking. Its not quite as blatent as that old PIL CD cover.

Can you remember those old magnetic particle diagrams from your science/physics book,,well thats what the covers based on I guess.

I can remember hearing a couple of new tracks live, from a few years back. At that time they didn't have names just 'New Song #1' plus they only had a few lyrics. I believe they made it to the final CD.

I am actually really looking forward to the new CD. As its produced by Rick Rubin. Apparently he has got them playing and sounding like what they did 20 years ago. So there should be plenty of guitar solos, unlike St. Anger. Plus they have brought back the old logo.

And for any musician types out there apprently they have reverted back to the E Tuning which they favoured in the 80's.

Do you think the coffin symbolises the end of Metal Licker or does the vagina image represent the rebirth?

I dunno. Or is Metal Licker just messing about with dark imagery?

Wow DJ,,,thats pretty deep. I didn't give it that much thought

I would say a re-birth,,what with the new producer. Also the new bass player,,will be showing off his skills on a Metallica CD for the 1st time. On St.Anger, producer Bob Rock played bass.

Hey DJ

Metallica supported Ozzy in Dallas,USA as part of the OzzFest tour this weekend. Life is secualr I guess, in 1986 Ozzy gave Metallica a big break by picking them as his support band for his US tour, I guess this is Metallica giving somthing back by supporting Ozzy again. The last time they did this was for The Stones in Metallica's home town of San Fransisco.

The big highlight of the gig was the public airing of a new song called Cyanide. It basically rocked, some pretty good lyrics and plenty of soloing and some riffs reminicent of And Justice For All.. This has definitley wetted the appetite, as I can't wait for the CD, as I am sure Cyanide will be even better on CD, with crystal clarity and lyric booklet in hand.
